MNRF Treatment in Kochi for Acne Scars, Pores & Skin Texture
MNRF (Microneedling Radiofrequency) combines fine microneedles with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen in the deeper layers of the skin while keeping surface disruption low. At Skinessence in Kadavanthra, Kochi, every MNRF plan is designed and supervised by Dr. Annu Jayan, MD Dermatology, after a detailed assessment of your scars and skin type.

Understanding MNRF
What Is MNRF (Microneedling Radiofrequency)?
MNRF stands for Microneedling Radiofrequency. Fine, insulated microneedles create controlled micro-channels in the skin and release radiofrequency energy at a chosen depth. This triggers the skin’s natural healing response and collagen remodelling beneath the surface, while the top layer of skin is largely preserved.
Because most of the energy is delivered below the surface, MNRF usually has a shorter recovery time than resurfacing treatments such as CO₂ fractional laser. Needle depth and energy are adjusted to your skin — an important consideration for Indian skin, which is more prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation.
MNRF is one of several tools we use for acne scar treatment. Your dermatologist will recommend it only if it suits your scar type, skin type and recovery expectations.
Who It Helps
What Can MNRF Help With?
MNRF is most often used for scarring and texture concerns. Suitability is always confirmed during your consultation.

Acne scars
May improve the depth and appearance of rolling and boxcar acne scars as new collagen forms.

Enlarged pores
Collagen remodelling can help pores look smaller and skin feel firmer.

Uneven skin texture
Helps smooth rough, bumpy or uneven texture left after acne or sun damage.

Skin rejuvenation
Supports fresher, healthier-looking skin when texture and tone have become dull.

Mild skin laxity
Radiofrequency heat can encourage mild tightening of early laxity and fine lines.

Mixed scar plans
For mixed scar types, MNRF may be combined with subcision, CO₂ laser or peels.
Choosing the Right Treatment
MNRF vs CO₂ Fractional Laser
Both stimulate collagen and are used for acne scars, but they work differently. Many patients benefit from one, the other, or a combination.
MNRF (Microneedling Radiofrequency)
Microneedles deliver radiofrequency energy below the surface
Less surface disruption, usually shorter downtime
Often chosen for acne scars, pores and texture
Can be adjusted carefully for darker skin types
CO₂ Fractional Laser
Laser creates microscopic resurfacing zones in the skin
Stronger surface resurfacing, usually longer downtime
Often chosen for deeper scars and rough texture
Needs careful aftercare and sun protection

Questions & Answers
MNRF Treatment FAQs
Is MNRF treatment painful?
A numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most people feel warmth and a mild pricking sensation that is easy to tolerate. Your comfort is checked throughout the session.
How many MNRF sessions will I need?
It depends on the type and depth of your scars and how your skin responds. Dr. Annu Jayan will suggest a plan after your assessment; sessions are usually spaced a few weeks apart.
What is the downtime after MNRF?
Mild redness, warmth or swelling for a few days is common. Downtime is usually shorter than with resurfacing lasers, and most people return to routine activities soon after.
Is MNRF safe for Indian skin?
When planned and supervised by a dermatologist with appropriate settings, MNRF is commonly used on Indian skin. Because the energy is delivered beneath the surface, it is often considered for skin that is prone to pigmentation.
Is MNRF better than CO₂ laser for acne scars?
Neither is better for everyone. The right choice depends on your scar type, skin type and how much downtime you can take. Read our CO₂ laser vs MNRF comparison.
Can MNRF be combined with other treatments?
Yes. For mixed scar types, MNRF may be combined with subcision, chemical peels or CO₂ laser as part of a personalised acne scar treatment plan.
When will I see results from MNRF?
Collagen remodelling is gradual, so improvement builds over weeks to months and continues across your course of sessions. Results vary from person to person.
How is MNRF planned?
Your dermatologist assesses your concerns, medical history and the area to be treated before recommending MNRF. The plan and any follow-up depend on your assessment and response. Book a consultation to discuss suitable options.
